Ann Eiserman, breeder of Doggone Borders Kennel

 

Since my childhood I have always loved animals and spent all my spare time in the stable with my ponies. As I grew up and the family moved to Canada the passion for animals stayed with me. However, it was not until I went to England for a couple of years that I was introduced to the Border Collie. Spending time on the show jumping circuit I actually never met any in real life but when time permitted we would all leave the stables to watch the horse racing on the tele and quite regularly there were programs from agility competitions being shown as well which I really liked to watch.

However it was not until almost 20 years later that I finally got my very first border collie. By this time I had moved to Belgium and given up horses. After a few years of being ‘animal less’ I was feeling a definite need to have a four-footed friend around. I recalled my time in England and decided that I wanted a border and I wanted to do agility. It took me some time to find a border as the breed was not so well known in Belgium at the time but when I finally found my Rascal I fell instantly in love.

Rascal has saved my life more than once by getting me out and about and meeting new friends at dog clubs and competitions. His friendship is something I have valued for years and he will always be remembered as the catalyst in my life that brought me into this wonderful new life of dogs, friends and competitions.

My dogs are my family and an integral part of my life and who I am. They live in the house with me, not in kennels outside although they can go in and out all day long as they please which suits them all as the older ones like the comfort of the sofa and the youngsters love to be outside come rain or shine.

My aim is to breed good quality border collies with good characters and working instinct. The puppies are brought up inside the first few weeks and then they live both in and outdoors to ensure that they get used to all environments and they are constantly surrounded by all my other dogs. They are taken for walks, car rides and even live in my caravan with me and the other dogs during competitions and as they are handled by a lot of visitors and children they are already well socialized before they leave for their new homes.
